O/T YIFA by ka114 User: ka114

Posted: 6/11/2017 at 17:21:57, 122 views.

Yorkshire international FA are seeking membership of CONIFA the football association for those denied membership of FIFA, places such as Greenland, Tibet Northern Cyprus and Zanzibar among many others. It has been announced today that in May they are hosting their first tournament, The Viking Trophy. YIFA are looking to play Yorkshire matches across the the three historic ridings at grounds of various size.
Was wondering the thoughts of SAFC fans at the thought of hosting Yorkshire matches at the FLS or matches for the upcoming tournament? International football played in Scarborough, I feel at least, would be great for both us the club and the town.

Turnbull by Bridseadog

Getting the impression it sounds like Turnbull is on his way out. Personally I think he will be a big miss one of our best players at top of his game and only young. Heard a few teams have approached him and he’s wanting to be playing football again.

Thought he was brilliant last season. Stimpson already been out injured and was holding his ankle a few times yesterday. Matty would be a massive loss in my opinion, who else would we put in there? Really hope he stays but to not even be on the bench must be a sickner, especually when jimmy was clearly not 100%

Do you know what, if that were the case then I wouldn’t miss any player thinking like that.

I understand that any player that isn’t playing regularly, wants to be and will move on if they are not . But at the same token, we can only pick 11 and as a supporter I want to see the best 11 possible based on form and fitness.

Matty has been great for boro but has struggled at times this season so if he wishes to go get game time elsewhere rather than fight for his place then good luck to him (and other player for that matter).

Can he leave? I though the manger stated he was contracted? I’m a big fan, he was immense at the end of last season but at times this season it would of been cruel to keep playing him. He had to have a break. He has issues against pace and movement and prefers a battle. But I believe he does have a future and if patient will have the opportunity again to prove his point.

Squad togetherness by statto User: statto

Funny how some of the squad support the team on the pitch when they aren’t on duty yet some others as soon as they aren’t selected are wanting away. If their heart isn’t with the club let them go. They will only be a disruptive element.

Be realistic. The majority of our squad are not from the town and as much as we would like to pretend they love boro as much as us, they don’t. If they waste their Saturdays driving to boro for no compensation then of course they’ll look elsewhere. Leaving players like Turnbull out of the squad is a fastrack way of making sure they move on. When they do we can’t complain when the next injury leaves our defence weak, it’s down to man management and motivation and it sometimes seems at boro you’re either in or out.

Leaving players out of the squad will upset them BUT some of the players have to be left out. Someone (or more than one) is going to be upset, how they react is a matter of choice on their part.

Or somebody who understands their players chooses who it is good to put on the bench and who it’s good to leave out. It might be a matter of choice on behalf of the player but that doesn’t help us a club when certain players decide to move on. Turnbull deserved a place on the bench on Sat simple.

Beadle is an apparently ill midfielder and did not deserve a place upfront on either Tues or Sat yet was used in that position, can understand why players may lose faith in their manager.

I think Kittrick has made a mistake by leaving him out of the squad. As an exile I can’t get to as many games as I’d like to, but in just about every game I have attended over the last 12 months, Matty Turnbull has been pretty much exceptional.

I can’t believe he didn’t even make the bench yesterday. He seems to be paying a big price for some high profile mistakes. Very harsh on him if you ask me.

He’s had barely a year at this level so he needs the game time. Give him the game time and he’ll improve. Also, he’s “one of our own". Which counts for a lot in my book.

p.s. Jimmy Beadle needs to have a look at himself. I’ve heard of “feigning injury" but he “feigned fitness" yesterday. Did nobody any favours, coming on as sub and then being subbed. Embarrasing.

Most of you guys have seen far more of Matty than me, but all the reports I had last season was of a star player.

OK, he’s had a rocky start to this season, but he struggled with injury and a big change in his personal life. He’ll come good again. He’s relatively young, at least in playing experience.

He may take a bit of time to recover that form, but why invest in relative short time signings from away, when we’ve a potential long term player on our doorstep? It reminds me of the Ben Middleton situation. The managers of the time didn’t rate him. The following season he was marshaling a defence in the Conference.

And yes, being one of our own does count for plenty with me as well; but not to the detriment of team mates, as Armchairdog alludes to.

Have it on good authority that JB should have never even travelled to Glossop never mind played because of his ‘’flu’ like symptoms. He thought he’d recovered and was feeling better Saturday morning. He clearly misjudged that. However on various threads we’ve got comments about players not caring about the club and now someone who’s so desperate to play he turns up wanting to play even when sick geting criticised. If Curtis hadn’t got a knock and had to come off when he did perhaps JB could have come on for the last 10 mins or so and got away with it? That didn’t happen and he was probably unwise to have put his hand up and said he was OK to play but should we really criticise someone who was trying to help the club? (every one including the team knows we’re a bit light up front at the moment). All about opinions of course and JB is probably regretting his decision himself.

Formation by Warrior

Posted: 5/11/2017 at 08:12:17, 156 views.

In my opinion we are nearly very good. We need a proper number 9 as a matter of urgency I think it’s clear to see. But I think we could improve significantly with just one tweak. A tweak we made eventually yesterday. We took valentine out that role of a attacking midfielder and brought price on as a defensive one. Giving our defence protection and allowed dean/ Daley to play with cover if the ball is lost. Still leaving a centre forward/ coulo and max as forward players. I don’t get the need for valentine to play up there too. Especially with us having a shakey defence at times. In my eyes it would balance us out considerably as It did yesterday as we finally got hold of the game literally as soon as we made the switch. Indeed some of our better away performances has come when we played with that more defensive midfielder rather than another attacking player whose largely in no mans land. Dont mind if valentine or price plays in that position but someone needs to protect the defence from the midfield and leave the forward play to those other three.

I agree with you there warrior. We looked a lot stronger from a defensive point of view when price came on. My other observation was the right back area. I like johnson and think he’s a good player, however, a lot of goals conseding seem to start around that right back are, so do we need to strengthen that area and play a more experienced player for the bigger games?

We got a hard fought and deserved win yesterday, which was great. However, I know that football attracts diverse views, and one of mine is that we should put the best available players out to try to win each game. I also understand that every player wants to play and will claim to be ok, but when one player is injured and another is ill, both conditions of which we were aware of 3 days prior, I thought we might have started with a player who is fully fit and healthy and arguably, equally as capable. Both Curtis and Beadle tried their best, but just could not manage it. I also agree about Johnson - he’s a young lad who is learning fast, but who just looks a bit vulnerable sometimes and whose game management is crucial.

Improvements to facilities by Farsley Arkan User: Farsley Arkan

Posted: 4/11/2017 at 22:46:57, 222 views.

Just wondering if anything had been started yet on the ideas to improve the place? Is it some terracing & cover at the swimming pool end, and then something along the ‘donkey field’/east side? Will they be taking the wooden fence down to set any structure back a bit or try to cram it into the existing space there? Is it being done simultaneously, or is the pool end the priority? (since the other is technically the away side?)

Or has this not been signed off yet by the council? I gather despite being tenants you’re going to pay for most/all of it. I thought the Gordon gibb Flamingomoney was supposed to be used for this stuff?

Hope you get more protection soon, as the really manky weather has yet to kick in, and it can be grim there by the Mount.

Didn’t know what to expect from a Rammy side who’d won 6 and lost 6 in the league, had been walloped 4-0 by Colne but had then destroyed Shaw Lane in extra time in the FA Trophy. Once they got a goal back it was a case of squeaky bum time for as long as we didn’t get a third, which was the whole game unfortunately but we dug in and saw out the game.

Full-Time Scores in Evo-Stik North by Armchairdog User: Armchairdog

Posted: 4/11/2017 at 16:55:37, 159 views.

Bamber Bridge 3-1 Tadcaster Albion
Brighouse 0-2 Trafford
Clitheroe 2-2 Ossett Town
Colne 2-1 Kendal Town
Colwyn Bay 1-2 Droylsden
Goole 1-1 Radcliffe Borough
Glossop NE 2-3 Prescot Cables
Scarboro Ath 2-1 Ramsbottom Utd
Skelmersdale 2-1 Mossley
South Shields 3-1 Atherton Colleries

By my reckoning we overtake Glossop NE (who blew a 2 goal league today) and move back up to 3rd spot.
League leaders Bamber Bridge came from a goal down to beat Taddy.
Emile Sinclair scored in stoppage time to rescue a point for Ossett Town.
