Very dissapointed with today’s attendance by Norwich-Seadog User: Norwich-Seadog

Believe me i tried my hardest to get today off work to be there, and thought even if i did i would be very lucky to get my hands on a ticket. But our first serious game in the new ground and not a sell out has left me very dissapointed. Ever since the plans for the ground were drawn up i’ve been thinking 2,000 capacity was pessimistic, but after today’s crowd it’s looking like i was wrong.

We barely averaged more than a 1000 in our last few seasons at a more attractive stadium in a higher league.

This is what I never understood when people panicked about the capacity. We are not a football league club anymore. Away teams don’t bring fans either (I reckon about 50 came from Hyde today)

We have also lost a generation of fans playing away and others lost their club and never kept following. Will take time to get both back.

I personally expect we will end up averaging around 700-800. Which, to be fair in this league would be great and will make us very competitive.

Two other things I forgot:

1) Anyone want to hazard any guesses on why the main stand was half empty? Apparently all but a few sold for season tickets and I reckon there was about 125 fans in there. Could be a problem moving forwards if season ticket holders don’t turn up?

2) it was mentioned on fbook there were around 400 tickets left to buy at the gate. So - Hyde got 200 but probably enough at very best 100. So that leaves 1800 tickets approx. If only 400 were left the aytendance should have been higher, and that’s presuming that not a single person paid on the gates.

the fact it was all-ticket will have put a few off who usually leave it until the last minute to decide

I think the pre-season had the effect of dampening enthusiasm rather than building it. The u23’s games looked good on paper but didn’t produce much entertainment or boro goals to get the new comers excited about boro.

Some decent league performances or a cup run might help but I think we’ll average a 1000.

I guess what this debate shows is the massive spike in our expectation levels, when we’re debating if a crowd nearly 4 times last season’s average and well over anything we’ve seen since 2006, is seen as disappointing. I too thought it would be more than it was, although wasn’t necessarily expecting a sell-out, as many fans considered the “bigger" of the two games to be the opening friendly, rather than the opening league game.

I think Hyde brought in the region of 100-120 fans.

main stand attendance by totalshell User: totalshell

we have a lot to be grateful for to those 250 main stand season ticket holders they ve all stumped up 200 quid well in advance of the season to keep the club afloat when we are income light as have all the standing season ticket holders

it is fair to say that there were empty seats in the stand and it will be always thus but they have all been paid for and the club had the money in the bank months before a ball was kicked at flamingo land resort stadium. moving forward the view and facilities are such that the price for the seats should rise a premium of a couple of quid would still be very cheap.

how many empty seats..? well on my row we started with 5 empty seats. two single and a group of 3. now at half time the group of three came and sat down in the seats whilst eating there pies when the game restarted one of them went back to the standing to rejoin his mates on the terraces..the other two stayed for the rest of the game.. and yes they were the ticket holders..

i for one will possibly miss half a dozen home games.. and frankly after queueing for 45 minutes on the york bypass i might miss more.. why on earth in 2017 is this traffic issue not getting sorted wtf is going on.. 10 years ago it was poor now its atrocious and a significant barrier to travelling east of york.. but those half dozen games if anyone wants to make use of my ticket for a significant donation to club funds i d be happy to let someone make use of it.. Starting with South Shields..

One of the 500 that was at Hunmanby, One of the 5000 that saw Shaun Chadburn bag our first goal and one of the 50000 who leapt in the air when Tommo netted against Tevie

I seem to remember that if a (Season ticket holder’s) seat is not taken up 10 mins after kick off it can be re-sold but not sure how that will happen in practice because only stewards were blocking the stair access unless you had a ticket stub for a seat.

That would seem a bit unfair on season ticket holders who might struggle to arrive on time because of work or traffic delays.

have seated season tickets for row c 10-13, we don’t use them until the second half kicks off and 2 people were sitting in them yesterday because they had been told to sit there. Some reserved labels will have to be made l think. After standing for 90 minutes in the rain yesterday we were ready for a sit down

Exactly. You deserve them more than most.

In any case any empty seats can’t just be given away willy nilly - someone might only be getting a team sheet or have gone to the toilet.
