not as low as our record low in the old club’s final season in Scarborough. Has to be said that with it being (a) a Tuesday night, (b) our crap form of late and (c) England playing it was always in danger of being low. If we stay in contention, our other Tuesday game against Glossop should be nowhere near that figure.

What do you suggest?
Do you seriously think there were people sat at home who thought I am not going tonight as it is £10?
Now if it was £8 I would go?
I think it followed the last Tuesday night game that was absolutely biting cold and last nights forecast was suggesting rain coupled with England being on tv and us being in a poorer run of form, people chose to stay at home
Really it was their loss cos it was a bloody good game and a good performance

Massive massive game tonight by Seadogmatt

This could be our season tonight. We need to use max more intelligently. Teams are doubleing up on him, they need to switch hom and coulo at points, mix it up. I can’t believe between sk, hume and roberts that it hasn’t been tried. I feel like walking into the stand and telling sk myself!

We caused a “shock" by beating the champions “elect" in our own back yard having previously beaten them in their own back yard, and as a result became the only team to do the double over the conference-bound side. The only things remaining constant from that day in March 2007 are the Droylsden manager, the Droylsden chairman, and Jimmy Beadle who was a sub. Let’s just hope the result is also the same too!

When we were on our unbeaten run the team was pretty much picking itself. I thought we could beat any team in this league and the players must have been thinking the same…but lose a couple and self doubt and loss of confidence kicks in..
I would stick with the players who have served us so well thus far…with the new players in we have a much stronger bench with a few more options if things are not going our way. we just need all the players and fans to get back into the zone…

I remember when Glasgow Celtic were facing 3 huge games within 10 days,Jock Stein was asked if they could cope,he said he would hire a coach and take all his players to spend an 8 hour shift down the nearest pit,1 of tho’es games was the european cup final which they went on to win.

It really is a blessed relief because even though 1874 Northwich have all those games in hand on the leaders, I’d be flabbergasted if they managed to get into the promotion spots with that run in.

I don’t remember there being 80 of their fans at our , 15 at most, they must have included players, subs, management, directors and the bus driver in that figure, even then, I would put it at 45 max. There were about 3 of them who were quite loud though.

At the back end of last season, during the “Do it for Dave" era when we were winning all those games and slowly closing in on the play-offs, the song title that sprung to mind was “keeping the dream alive". Here’s hoping we can keep it alive tomorrow night.

Stats, stats, and damned cheering ourselves up! by Malton Seadog User: Malton Seadog

Posted: 25/3/2018 at 20:54:14, 151 views.

First 16 league games: W10 D3 L3 Points 33 (Points per game: 2.06)
Latest 16 league games: W11 D1 L4 Points 34 (Points per game: 2.12)

So despite losing 3 of the last 4 in a horrible little blip, we’ve still improved overall if you split the season down the middle. Incidentally, the first 16 games ended with a home win over… Atherton.

If we can manage six points at home against Droylsden and Radcliffe (the former of which have not yet won in 2018 and are in rotten form), we are back on track. It would give us 73 points from 34 games (2.14 points per game), and our form since Boxing Day would be 12-1-3 (2.31 points per game).

We are more than capable of getting these six points, and I think anything over 2.1ppg will probably be enough to secure the best 3rd placed spot (about 88 points in our league).

Also - remember when all hope was lost last season with eight games to go? Well, after this week, we go into the Taddy game on Easter Monday with eight games to go. Football is a funny old game. We could realistically finish as champions or as low as 5th. Only one way to find out.

Come on Boro!

Good to see Are at the match today by Old Git

Posted: 24/3/2018 at 23:34:31, 114 views.

I assume he’ll be at the 2 home games.
so fans please take care of him when you see him
as he has a bit off difficulty walking so don’t expect him
to come on in the 2nd half to score a couple of quick goals.
The other thing was the young fan taken ill at the end
of the match and was collapsed next to the coach.
following an asthma attack..
Luckily he received support from Boro staff and was allowed to travel
home on the team coach. As if he hadn’t already suffered enough.
Anyway I’m pleased to say that when the Boro bus got back to
the station bus stop he was there to greet us. He looked in good shape.
maybe the naughty boy will take his medication as intended next time.

Interview with SK after loss at Atherton by Armchairdog User: Armchairdog

I think he’s right about needing to adapt to the surfaces. It must be very difficult for our players to go from playing on a bowling green surface like FLS one week to an awful bobbly one like today.

we were spoilt at Brid by Old Git

Posted: 24/3/2018 at 23:17:47, 161 views. In reply to 'Interview with SK after loss at Atherton'

Cos as someone said behind me in the stand said, early in the 2nd half,
‘why have no ground staff come out at half time and replaced all the divots’.
The pitch was a mess after 45 mins and just got worse
throughout the 2nd half.
We knew at Brid there would be staff tamping down the mess at half time.
One unusual feature of today’s game was, in the 2nd half,
the three of four times Boro players
attempted to boot the ball towards the Atherton goal
only for the ball to swirl behind them or over their heads
180 degrees in the opposite direction intended.
The first time it happened I was impressed that a Boro player had
successfully refuted Newton’s 3rd law of motion, by the 4th time
I was just pissed-off with the repetition and wastefulness..

‘we just haven’t had a little bit of luck again’

Doesn’t quite match with your comprehensive earlier report. Maybe the wheels haven’t come off, but we are about to see if the man is worth his money. Need to win the next 2 games he says. I’m hoping he can do that and get us back on track, because I don’t fancy the play-off lottery.

we are kicking uphill & downhill in the same half of the pitch.
Problem was I had to squeeze in between other fans and it was a squeeze..
Stand your lap top or tablet on it’s bottom edge and lift the bottom right hand corner
and then it’s downhill all the way

Just got back by Armchairdog User: Armchairdog

Posted: 24/3/2018 at 18:31:13, 180 views.

A pretty frustrating game to watch for our travelling fans (of which I’d guess there were at least 250).

Poor pitch, dreadful ref (again). We were particularly poor in the first half. Kicking uphill and into the breeze it was 45 minutes to forget. They looked a much more confident side than us from the off, a side in good form. We just never got any sort of passing game going. Far too many hopeful wayward long balls through to the front men, passes going astray and unforced errors. And too many unnecessary fouls which a whistle-happy ref was happy to blow up for. Max Wright was a culprit of this all game. He needs to cut that side out of his game.

If memory serves me we didn’t have one shot on target in the first half and their keeper (a time-wasting Ross Kemp look-a-like) had very little to do. Sugden’s delivery from free-kicks and corners was poor. He was one of many players who had games to forget.

Not sure what happened 20 mins gone with Snowden, he didn’t look injured so I’m assuming Kittrick took him off as a tactical change - if so that won’t have helped his confidence. Then again it was a confidence sapping day for most of our players. I don’t think any of our players had a particularly good game, maybe with the possible exception of Coulson, but even he was below his normal standards. Worrying times I’d say, we need to get back to winning ways pronto.

Jordan Cover scored two very well taken goals for them. He looks a really good player, easily the best player on the pitch today. The first one he turned our defence way too easily. Not much more Tommy in goal could have done with either.

The 2nd half, helped by the slope and breeze, it was one way traffic as we completely dominated possession but we didn’t translate that into chances. Beadle, who still doesn’t look fit to me, had little impact when he replaced Valentine. I thought Kittrick left it too late to bring Jorome Slew on. Judging by the one long defensive sprint he made back up the slope he looks an incredibly speedy player and I’d like to have seen him on earlier (I’d have taken Max off as it just wasn’t his day).

Overall a very disappointing performance and result.

I’d say it was poor defending but it has to be said Cover did take his goals well. His 2nd goal was like watching a repeat of his first as he just ran through the middle and slipped it passed Tommy. I can’t remember which of our defenders it was who he turned with embarrassing ease for his first (may well have been Snowden) - but whoever it was left looking statuesque.

When Gooda and Hewitt have proved a decent combination at centre back for some time do you then play Snowden and Hewitt in those positions and Gooda in midfield? I feel we deserve some explanation even thought the management have the right to select who they chose. Both their goals came from gaps between both centre halves even though they were well taken.

MoM for me was Taylor by Old Git

We could have been 4 or 5 down at HT but he made two great saves
one with his feet after our defenders gave away the ball passing across our own area
or being caught in possession in our own area plus there was an Atherton shot on target
that was blocked by a defender.
In 2nd taylor made another goal saving clearance with his feet then his hands to the right
of the goal but only after I think he cocked up after a bit of farting around between him and one
of our defenders.

I think Beaconsfield Town won taking them higher than 2.09 which we fall down to. A draw would have seen us 2.12. Very frustrating

3rd place trophy - target drops to 93pts but field wide open by Hungry Jose

Posted: 24/3/2018 at 17:18:12, 125 views. In reply to 'RE: Beaconsfield set to get auto promotion'

Max pts in brackets.

Boro (97)
Bamber (92)
AFC Dunstable (92)
Hartley & Witney (91)
Corinthians (90.4 adj)
Prescot (89)
Potter’s Bar (86.6)
Bowers & Pitsea (86.6)
Frickley (86)
Bedworth (84)

Boro just ahead thanks to the fact Beaconsfield and Alvechurch can be ignored for now as they’re likely to finish in the top 2 themselves (their rivals are above).
Need 26pts from 10 to guarantee promotion.

What’s been concerning is our increasing frequency to go 2 goals down in games, meaning a mountain to climb. In the past it was us going 2 up and then going on to see the game out comfortably.
