For me York is like the rivalry with Barnet, from league competition, the old club and it’s miles away. Takes an hour to get to York.

Whitby / Brid can understand it’s down the road.

The same city comment is what i think a derby actually is, we have just have rivals.

I think derbies are all relative, to what league you’re in. For example, in the conference at times Halifax was our “local derby" but in the NCEL for example there were so many Yorkshire derbies you didn’t know where to start, most of which were closer than Halifax!!

Tommy Taylor interesting Coventry & Doncaster by Old Git

Posted: 6/2/2019 at 15:28:50, 216 views.

Coventry City linked with goalkeeper interest - reports
The Sky Blues are in the market for a new goalkeeper next summer

Coventry City are among a number of clubs monitoring non-league goalkeeper Tommy Taylor, according to reports.
The Sky Blues are facing the prospect of losing first choice stopper Lee Burge in the summer with the 26-year-old out of contract and showing no signs of engaging in talks with the club about a new deal.
Third choice Corey Addai is currently providing back-up but yet to make his first team debut for City and therefore untried at League One level.

A goalkeeper is a clear priority for the summer, and according to HITC Sport’s sources close to Scarborough Athletic, Taylor is being watched by the Sky Blues and League One rivals Doncaster Rovers. The 26-year-old late developer has impressed for the Evo-Stik Premier Division side since joining the club in the summer of 2017.

A former Sheffield Wednesday trainee, Taylor helped Athletic win promotion from the Evo-Stik First Division North in his debut season when they finished second in the table. Taylor’s fine form saw him win a number of awards at the club’s Player of the Year awards at the end of the 2017/18 campaign. He has continued his impressive form into this season, helping Athletic into fifth place in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Taylor’s outstanding performances have brought him to the attention of clubs higher up the football pyramid, with scouts from Coventry and Doncaster reported to be making regular checks on the athletic ‘keeper.

Is HITC Sport a widely known and reputable source of football news? Or a convenient place online for a cunning agent to start tongues wagging and thereby increase the value of - and opportunities for - a player he/she represents?

It seems a surprising appointment, not just in the length of the contract. No disrespect to BH but you would have thought Wrexham would have gone for a proven manager with at least some track record of success.

Anyway, good luck to him, i hope he does well.

If l was a Wrexham fan I’d be absolutely baffled by this appointment, given his only experience is being sacked from a club 3 tiers below after a season of overwhelming failure, and hasn’t been involved in the professional game since.

U19s win 4-2 by Old Git

Posted: 4/2/2019 at 22:55:08, 227 views.

In an entertaining game of attacking football.
When Huddersfield YMCA took the lead with an excellent
goal after 4 mins no one would have guessed that
Boro’s U19 would be leading 4-1 at half time.
YMCA’s goal was a flowing move of passing across the park
with the ball finally being superbly vollyed home from a cross into
the box from the right. look like a hard night ahead for the Boro lads.
However from the kick-off a flowing move from the Boro saw the ball
flick off the outside of the right hand post at the swimming pool end when
Flynn McNaughton missed the chance to get an immediate equaliser.
It didn’t take Flynn long to make amends for his miss as after 12 minutes
he flicked home a lovely through ball into the box down the middle to beat
the visitor’s keeper and make it 1-1.
It looked as though this game was gonna bring us lots of goals.
On 27 minutes Robbie Scarborough, with his back to goal,
controlled the ball, just inside the area them turned
and put the ball wide of defenders and keeper into the botton left hand
corner of the net, 2-1 Boro.
It really was end to end but Huddersfield just couldn’t get a telling shot on target
and then in quick sucession flynn McNaughton scored two more to complete
a first half hat trick. His second came as the ball was played into the box
defenders and forwards vied for the balland it came to Flynn who slid it into the net.
his third was thumped home across the keeper from the right hand side of the box
to make it 4-1 and that was the end of the scoring in the first half.
How many is it going to be must have been the thoughts of the crowd in the stand.
But even though the 2nd half was end to end and Huddersfild scored a well-worked 2nd
after 10 mins of the 2nd 45 there was to be no further goals.
On what turned into a freezing cold night it was a great game
to watch for both the local & visiting fans.
After the final whistle I noticed two of our players limping off into the dressing room.
I hope that they weren’t serious injuries and they’ll be out there next Monday night
for the top of the table clash with Pontefract Collieries.
See you there for what looks like being a cracking match.

both AFC & Pikes have struggled by Old Git

Posted: 3/2/2019 at 13:53:03, 427 views. In reply to 'RE: Rudy'

this season and AFC were lucky to get promoted last season
through the Shaw Lane fiasco, they were about the last side
to be moved up a division.
Last season AFC looked to be certain champions until suffering a collapse
of form in final third of season, seems that form continued this season.
Both them and Pikes started this season with weak squads
and needed to adjust to the level with the main aim being not geting relelgated.
What is it with promoted clubs thinking they have a divine right
to another immediate promotion.
Luckily Boro fans are much more grounded in reality.

its bad sportsmanship but if its not written down its not a rule so we dont have to follow it. Personally don’t know why more people don’t have a pop from drop balls or when we “throw it back" actually try and create something from it.

winning is winning.

Unsporting conduct equals yellow card, it is there in black and white in the laws of the game.

Of course, some teams push the boundaries as far as they can and take advantage of weak refs. I’d prefer to win fairly.

I cant decided if its blinkered viewing but I honestly don’t know why we have not really had teams that do that.

We all surely know that Wally dives a lot but we’re happy because we get free kicks right?

I’m saying we should be the team that pushes the boundaries.

That’s what winners do.

I don’t simply see it as winning is winning. Apart from that incident not having a bearing on the outcome of the game, I would be embarrassed to see any of our players do it as blatantly as that. Sure stand in the line of the goalie to hamper his view especially when the kick was about to be taken but what I interpret happened was he stood in a player’s (Tommy) face and space while the ball was not in play probably trying to make Tommy push him away. He would then fall on the floor holding his face & try to get Tommy sent off. Nothing less than bad sportsmanship - yellow card. This exact thing happened with Johnson. Their attacker jumped up and into Jack’s face, he pushed him away from ‘his space’ and promptly got a yellow. The Farsley guy who instigated it never even received a word from the ref.

The issue about Wally is that he obviously has a reputation with refs of going down easily and so they will always tend to give the benefit of the doubt to ‘the defender’. I haven’t seen the playbacks yet but on the face of it Wally should have won at least 1 penalty if not 2. Thought the ref against Farsley was very one sided and crap although I am not blaming him for the defeat - he just didn’t help. I don’t mind refs being harsh but they have to be consistent to both sides which he wasn’t & I have to say he spoiled the game for me.

Shambles - why have we let McGuire leave but kept Valentine? He looks like he’s never been introduced to a football, awful.

First of all we didn’t “let him leave", his loan period ended. Secondly Valentine is normally one of our best players.

maguire was kack, had no quality on the ball, maybe a battler but certainly no better than the other handful of average midfielders sk has brought in.
