With 6 games still to play South Shields have now matched champions Lancaster’s final total from last season of 85 points.

We have 80 points with 5 games left. Last season with 5 games left Lancaster had 76 points (and a far inferior goal diff).

Chelsea 1989 VHS Compilation by Bob Burns

Posted: 11/4/2018 at 01:52:46, 163 views.

I have a copy of the VHS Highlights compilation of the Chelsea games in 1989 but have not watched it for over 20 years and threw out my VHS player on my last move.

Still in original package so probably ok if anybody still has a VHS player and wants it

3rd place trophy: 10 more points guarantees promotion by Hungry Jose

Posted: 10/4/2018 at 22:22:14, 251 views.

Still 90pts needed to guarantee promotion, for now at least.

Max pts achievable (games remaining)

Evo Stik N
Bamber 84 (5) won
Prescot 83 (5) won

Evo Stik S
Frickley 86 (7) won
Bedworth 84 (5) -

Bostik N
PottersB 85.8* (5) -

Bostik S
Corinthians 85.8 (4) -
Greenwich 84 (3) lost
Cray 84 (3) -

SE
Camb C 89 (7) -
Hartley 88 (5) won
Dunstable87 (6) -
Hayes 83 (3) -

Bostik South and the team I was the most worried about failed again. Probably only Corinthian Casuals from the Bostik south that are now relevant. Hartley the biggest threat now? 5 good fixtures left for them.

Thursday sees Frickley and Potters Bar play.
Dunstable vs. Cambridge on Saturday.

Because Cambridge play rushden, they can’t both reach 89 points, which means 89 is the target now and not 90

R&D by HJ

Probably need to add R&D to the mix in the south east.
Currently top, second to Beaconsfield on ppg. 5 games left, max 91, but play Dunstable & Cambridge yet, and their form is P6 D4 L2. Good chance that if Hartley or whoever go on a run, and win all their remaining games, they may overtake a struggling R&D.

From a mathematical point of view we don’t need to worry about them yet, but if their downturn continues we could have some more wiggle room if Hartley or whoever storm it.

Great effort from the lads tonight. We battled all the way in what was a pretty hectic fast-paced game, and I thought we fully deserved the 3 points. Everyone put in a shift and they’ll be glad we’re not playing again on Thursday (as Radcliffe are!).

Coulo’s goal was absolute class. A wonderful chip/dink over their goalie. He has so much composure in front of goal.

Good turn out from Boro fans considering the distance on a Tuesday night.

Just looking at the fixtures by MAlcD

Hyde play 5 games in 11 days, 4 of which are away.

I feel a tad more optimistic about automatic promotion knowing that.

What do you think??

I would be if it wasn’t for the away fixtures we have against Colwyn Bay and Colne. Really tough away games. Then there’s the match tomorrow too which I think Radcliffe will be well up for

I actually think we’ve got more bottle than Hyde, and I hope that proves the case. Remember last season? We had to win all eight to stand a chance of the playoffs. We did.

We have that experience, albeit with a mostly changed team, but SK has been there and done it. Hyde’s PR department has been “willy-waving" (for want of a better term) for weeks about how they’re on track for a fantastic season, and posting screenshots of league tables. We are just getting on with it. Colne and Colwyn Bay are tough, tough fixtures, but if we HAD to win them, would we? Yes. I think we would. Look at South Shields away. Billed as a massive top of the table clash, and even then it was seen as a game not to be lost to avoid letting them go miles clear. We went there and won. Game plan worked, tactics worked, performance pulled out of the bag.

I trust us away at Colwyn Bay and Colne more than I’d trust Hyde to get something at Atherton on a Monday night or on a poor Radcliffe pitch on a Thursday.

I might be wrong, and if Hyde win all their games, they will deserve to go up in 2nd.

Agreed. Hyde are stellar at home, but significantly less so on their travels. Hadn’t realised the games were that close together.
