With not even the slightest acknowledgement (as far as I can see) that the boardroom shenanigans (Walshaw etc) might have played a role in the club’s position. I don’t know if Bolder and Robson would be the greatest management pair but I’d bet they’ve done a pretty good job with the hand they were dealt.

After a couple of railway station style “ding dongs”, the tannoy was very hard to hear yesterday from the shed, and apparently from many other parts of the ground. Hopefully it was just some technical difficulties and will be fixed for future games. Nick came round with the golden gamble number at half time and I think it ended in 551.

Do not know what was wrong with Joy showing the winning numbers on the whiteboard & walking round with it. I understand this is not preferred but most people I spoke to on Saturday had no idea what the winning ticket was and of course being a regular winner, I may have missed out.

We looked for the white board but could not find it. The tannoy was unfortunately not working on Saturday. I went around the entire ground shouting the number as loudly as possible. The ticket was claimed.

If volunteers would like to make themselves known they could help with selling or giving out details/finding the winner.

This is bad, if a long time supporter and volunteer feels the need to step aside after giving many years of service to the club. I personally don’t know many of the present board members, Nick Finch being the exception, as he always mingles with the crowd at matches, and stops and talks to people around the ground. Perhaps the others could follow his lead, as Dave Holland always did. The whole idea of being a fans run club should be that we are all pulling together for the benefit of the club.

The board members are all approachable and evident at matches but perhaps become less visible in a larger venue with crowds that are around three times the size of those at Brid.

I don’t disagree that it is bad if any volunteer or trust member feels mistreated by the club but I don’t think it is fair to cast the board as aloof, shy or inaccessible.

Taking the recent Stalybridge away game Mick Davison was conspicuously going around the Boro fans explaining the circumstances of the segregation and making sure they were happy.
Fred is often on the Shed Terrace at the gate end for at least the second half.
Paul Exley wanders round the ground all the time.
Jamie Daniel (with Jane) can usually be seen charging around in the club house area making sure visitors are looked after.
Trevor walks round both home and away, is often subjected to “Trevor / Chairman give us a song" and always responds in good humour.

These are approachable people, (even Andy Crossland who looks like a cross between Bender from Futurama and the prison governor from the Shawshank Redemption). Look out for them and talk to them. First and foremost they are Boro fans like you and I. Their election to high office hasn’t changed that.

Alternatively if you visit the Your Board section of the club website ( http://www.scarboroughathletic.com/owners/your-board ) it takes you to the world’s lowest grade beauty pageant. If you click on any of the faces it give you an individual email address for that board member. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to them face to face or in the unlikely event you can’t find them at matches, send them an email. They do respond.

Not everyone can be this silly but it is nice to see so many trying.

So far they’ve not quite been the force they were last season. Today was their 5th league defeat this season.

Their home form is still outstanding (100% record so far) but they’ve lost 5 of their 7 away games. I still think they will be there or thereabout come the end of the season.

It was the low flat roof just near to the turnstiles at the North end. You could see it lift at times 3 or 4 inches. I don’t know why somebody couldn’t have thrown a rope across the corner & tied it down to help avoid a disaster. It wouldn’t have been difficult.

Did you volunteer yourself for that job? Did you write a competent Risk Assesment & Method Statement for that as would have been required? Can’t imagine the HSE looking at a rope lashed across as the club doing everything ‘so far as reasonably practicable’ in the event of someone get whacked on the head.

Top marks to the club for recognising that risk and minimising it sufficiently. Much appreciated

at Sports Stadiums & Football Grounds and who is responsible
for the safety of members of the public, players, officials & spectators
Particularly as we are tenants of Sports and Leisure Management Ltd trading as Everyone

So we would know who the named Safety Managers are and who has ultimate responsibility
for safety at Flamingo Land Stadium and who to contact in the first instance.
Hopefully it won’t be a couple of those lovely Spider Monkeys at Flamingo Land.

The game was no spectacle for sure, largely down to the advers weather conditions. Couldn’t understand the futile long high kicks into gale force winds used by both sides though and still prefer Brooksby and Cadman playing the other way round- former on the wing and the latter in the middle. However, despite the poor quality of football, all credit to the lads to keep going again right to the end. It must have been very difficult to keep the ball under any sort of control and to keep on running into that level of wind gusting at them.

Today’s game was a very scrappy and frustrating affair made all the more problematic by the strong wind. I felt that kicking towards the swimming pool end we needed to be ahead at half time to get something out of the game or it could be “another Colwyn Bay". Fortunately the wind wasn’t QUITE as strong as that day so we were able to negotiate the second half despite some serious Bamber Bridge pressure. Tommy made some excellent saves, but also let himself down a bit with kicks high into the swirling wind. We also had a few decent chances, and had two penalty appeals turned down including one right on the final whistle. Controversial end to the game. Still, as you say a rare clean sheet (second on the bounce at home!!!)

We still haven’t shaken off the monkey of beating Bamber Bridge at home, Never mind we still have to go there and they can’t beat us at home either!
