If we go on to win the league with 108 points, NRSC, and league cup, I’ll still feel a deep pang of sadness that Dave didn’t witness any of it. A true tragedy that he didn’t see his work pay off. Not even one game. It still hurts.

I thought I appreciated everything he did for our club but when you read the short passages by each of the five guys and watch the lovely video on youtube, honestly I had no idea he did so much. What a Chairman we had. How much would he give I wonder to see just one of those goals in front of the shed with the fans going crackers, so very sad.

We wont always be on 9 match winning runs and stuffing teams week in week out with a chance of promotion. We wont always be happy with everything the Board does (although I cant think of anything they have got wrong recently) When things go awry, or not as we all want, just remember that they all have the same passion for Boro as Mr Holland did. They are all living examples of each of the five testimonies.

It is right to remember Mr Holland, but also be thankful for the awesome bunch of people we now have running the club in his memory as well.

Thornaby game - Mar 14 by Hobdog User: Hobdog

Posted: 21/2/2018 at 00:01:01, 147 views.

According to the Evostik and Northern League sites, the Thornaby game has been arranged for Wednesday March 14. If it stays like that, it’s going to make it tricky to fit in the next round of the League Cup anytime in the near future, even if Atherton manage to get their game on.

I assume it would have to be either next week (27th Feb) or the one after (6th March) because the groundhog-delayed Doodsons game will surely have to fitted in on the 13th.

Or… by Part Time Seadog

Posted: 21/2/2018 at 16:37:18, 102 views. In reply to 'SK Out LMAO'

It’s in part down to having a huge playing budget (which is turn is helped by crowds which are bigger than most teams in a few divisions above), and therefore better players than the level.

I’m not saying he isn’t playing a part, but there are other significant factors at play here too. A manager doing ‘well’ or it being ‘down to him’ should be judged when he’s got inferior players to the level they are at, they’ve got an inferior budget in comparison to other clubs at that same level, or both.

But that would be like saying Brian France or Rudy Funk didn’t do “well" to get us promoted out of their respective divisions either, in fact it would suggest none of our managers have done “well" which would be silly.

Not only do we close the gap on the top two but crucially, we have a seven point lead over Bamber Bridge, meaning whatever happens on Saturday we’ll have at least a 4 point lead over our rivals.

The chairman of Curzon Ashton and Rammy both arrive in a field on their trusty steeds, bedecked in shiny suits of armour. Armed with lances the two charge towards each other knowing that the last man to hit the deck gets to add Madeley to his squad at the weekend.

That’s a novel approach to squad selection.

All three teams are now safe from relegation! ;)

Goole have 13 games left = 39 points + 18 = a possible 57.

In fact, Skelmersdale cannot catch us either, so all three are guaranteed to finish at least 20th in the table.

(In all seriousness, with the Ossett merger, I expect another reprieve for the bottom side).

Hyde vs Shields - what do we want to happen? by Malton Seadog User: Malton Seadog

Posted: 17/2/2018 at 19:44:49, 168 views.

For me it’s away win, 100%. I don’t want to give up on the title, but it’s not the ultimate aim this season. Promotion is. If we can get a positive result at Ramsbottom, and Shields can beat Hyde, we would end the night 2 points AHEAD of Hyde, and with a game in hand.

If Hyde win and if we win, Hyde go top on GD, Shields drop to 2nd, and we stay 3rd, and nothing really changes.

I know it’s one game and in the long term one result might not affect that much, but Hyde haven’t lost at home this season, so a dent to their confidence wouldn’t be a bad thing. Like I said, it’s all about finishing in the top 2 for me, and if that means Shield do us a favour by beating Hyde and Bamber, I’m all for it.

Echo everything Matt said above. Most importantly three points for us then we will be 7 points above Bamber bridge in the race for the magic third place promotion spot, which looks more and more like that place will come from our division

Fully agree with ka114. As long as we don’t lose too many games to the end of season, Bamber is the one to keep an eye on, so good that they dropped points today against a beatable side. I’m pretty sure that the team who finishes 3rd in our league will also be promoted. So our 2 games against Bamber are critical. Having said all that, we must just look to our own performances and take one game at a time. Today against 3rd bottom Skem showed how easy it is to drop points against ANY team in this league. We deserved to win overall in the end but it could so easily have been a draw and the last 10 minutes we could easily see a goal coming from Skem. First half I thought they were poor but we allowed them into the game & 4th quarter they were playing well. Lets put today’s performance down to ring rust.

as it’s 2 points dropped by both teams, Shields not far enough ahead to want them to win at the cost of Hyde.

Look at it another way. Ignore what SS and HU get up to and just concentrate on maintaining, or bettering, our 2.31 ppg average.

Maintain that until the end of the season and Bamber Bridge are going to have to win 13 and draw 2 of their remaining games to match us. Given the teams they have to play that is possibly beyond them.

Even if it’s not BB challenging us for that 3rd spot, a run in of something similar would be required from other teams below them in that mini league.

Let’s concentrate on our results. We’ll either smash the 3rd place and be finely placed if there’s any bottling from above.

In the battle for 3rd place, from outside our league - Hartley Wintney (2.04) are the next closest (based on Carslhalton winning their games in hand to go 2nd). If HW go at 2.5ppg for the rest of the season, we’d only need 2.0ppg to match them. To say nothing of the fact that anyone going on that sort of run would probably steal an automatic place of their own.

I’m convinced 3rd will be enough. As above, BB games are vital.

On a numerical basis it’s best for us - no points surge for either team allowing us to make the most of our game in hand. However, for us Bamber Bridge home and away is now crucial, and in my opinion could decide which out of us or Bamber will be automatically promoted.

We’re a very lucky football club to have so many dedicated people involved acting in such a professional manner.

It really was top class. I’d recommend the experience for anyone looking for a gift for their young un/s.

Brilliant weekend all round. How good is it to go in pubs and hear people talking positively about the club and wearing Boro colours!

It was a difficult listen too for those of us not there (not least because of the continuous loss of sound on YCR!!).

Still, 3 points in the bag. South Shields have to go to Hyde on Tuesday night, so no matter what the result in that game we have the opportunity to close the gap further if we can beat Ramsbottom Utd (who lost today) on Tuesday.
