Didn’t realise play-off system was different this year by Norwich-Seadog User: Norwich-Seadog

Is this correct. According to the non-league paper the winners of the Northern Premier league play-offs plays the winner of the Southern League Central play-off winners. Is this correct And so I presume only 1 team goes up.

Here is the thread from June last year where we guessed the highest, lowest and average league crowd of the season.

https://www.surfingseadog.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=91487

The highest was 1967 (Dunno was closest with his 2010 guess),. the lowest was 801 (Armchairdog was closest with 840) and the average crowd was 1091 (Malton was only 15 out with a guess of 1076).

The new stand should be open before the first game of the season. Hopefully the extra covered area and improved view will tempt a few more (back).

We’re gaining a big gate from FCUM, which might offset SS going up (if they do) a bit.

The FC United crowd depends on several factors by Malton Seadog User: Malton Seadog

Posted: 30/4/2019 at 10:42:14, 177 views. In reply to 'RE: yes,'

Saturday in August? You’re talking 2,000+ (a new record crowd in all likelihood), as they’d bring well over 500 I reckon.

A Saturday in January? Probably closer to 200.

We’re lucky being a seaside resort, but their crowds have dropped off somewhat, so a lot depends on when the game is, and both of our league positions at the time.

This is all making next years guess very difficult, I’m going to have to alter my algorithm.

Im gonna stick my next out and say we will have a crowd of 3,000 with an average of 1,500. Il do a thread nearer the season but if anyone wants to have an unofficial pop, then feel free!

Thought I’d look back over some past season’s to give me a clue as to what next season’s ave gate maybe using Steve Adamson’s book Scarborough Football 1998-2009.

Here goes. 1979-80 to 1986-87. 8 Seasons =Total ave att 10,747. div by 8 = 1,343.375 per season.

Our time in the Nationwide Conference of 7 season Total ave 10,032. div by 7= 1,433.14 per season.

So I could take either one or add together to make 20,779 ave of 1,385.26.

If Boro crowds go as in previous season our ave should be around 1,400 per game.Maybe, will be interesting at the end of the season if our league games live up to our past seasons.

Impressive display to finish the season against an already relegated team. It did make you wonder what could have been if we’d actually turned up in the Trophy. Brooksby and Lofts got their first goals for a while and Flynn McNaughton came on and scored his first goal for the club with just about his first touch. Wally added one at the end to draw level in the league’s “golden boot" stakes. The only downside was we gave away our usual penalty at the end, and even though Taylor saved, the rebound was scored. Basford’s high scoring win meant we just missed out on pipping them for 7th. On to the cup final now against a Marske side who also thrashed a struggling side at home.

Taddy ended up winning 8-3 but still had to hope Sheffield lost, or Ossett lost by a few, and neither happened, meaning Paddy’s career ends in personal and team glory but missing out on the play-offs all the same.

Farsley must be miffed. If we hadn’t conceded that goal then they’d be celebrating the title win tonight. It just seemed a strange decision, more to lose than gain given that Buxton and Gainsborough were out of sight by that time.

We certainly didn’t gift them the win just by the aspect of Tommy coming up for the corner, and I’m sure their title rivals wouldn’t have been complaining if our attacking intent at the end had led to a last minute winner for us rather than them. They should be thanking us for being so positive even though it didn’t work out.

If Buxton and Gainsborough were losing or drawing or even winning narrowly then YES we should have gone for it

but……..

Buxton were winning 0-6 and Gainsborough were 0-2 up as well. The play-offs had gone.

We had absolutely NOTHING to gain and our 7th place to lose……..which we did.

We also got doubled again. Needlessly.

So I must admit to being less than enamored.

Agreed Old Git

I don’t get to every game, and for whatever reason both SK and now our new manager seem reluctant to play Cadman, so I haven’t seen him play that many minutes this season

However I would say that based on what I have seen in my opinion he’s our most creative midfielder by a country mile and we risk losing him if he continues to be viewed merely as a squad player

And before anyone points it out, I am aware that like yesterday , he tends to come on fresh when everyone else has played 70 mins so he should look sharp

Given the difference in the quality of football on offer (last year pretty good, this year pretty dire) that’s not actually too bad.

Possibly down to the Easter Hols and the nice weather. Some fans will have gone away with the kids. Agree though, need to keep those numbers up!

The Supporters Club… by SeadogInTheStand User: SeadogInTheStand

… Has it run its course?

Is there a need to have a Supporters Club for a fan-run club? Or should there be a Fundraising Committee arm of the official club?

Waddecar has pulled one goal ahead of Wally after today’s games (he scored two against Matlock).

Wally would actually be a goal ahead of Waddecar if it were not for the demise of North Ferriby, because he scored twice against Ferriby whereas Waddecar drew a blank in Bamber Bridge’s only game against them.
