If you’re including teams who can “only" reach the likes of 83 points, I’m surprised you didn’t add Bamber Bridge and Prescot to that list!!

Oh you see I look at it differently, teams that haven’t yet got to the “current" points total of 89 are still of interest, seeing as any team could easily go on a downward spiral!

Sensible planning. I’m sure Ossett Albion will bring a few and if our promotion hinges on the game then it’s a certain to be close to a sell-out.

OK, here goes… by Malton Seadog User: Malton Seadog

Posted: 13/4/2018 at 18:55:02, 129 views. In reply to 'Theoretically….'

If we win both games, we will have 86 points with three to play. Our PPG wouldl be 2.20. Losing the remaining three games would give us 86 points, and a PPG of 2.04.

Hartley Wintney are playing Saturday/Thursday next week. If they lose on Saturday, they will have 73 from 38. A PPG of 1.92 with four to play.

If they win all four games remaining after Saturday’s assumed defeat, Hartley would have 85 from 42. They could no longer catch us on points, and therefore PPG too, even if we lost our remaining three matches. If Hartley drew, they could still get to 86, so promotion close but not possible.

Corinthian Casuals are only playing Saturday. They have 4 games left with 82 on the board, with a PPG of 1.95. If they lost on Saturday, they would have 3 games left and could get 91 points - a PPG of 1.97.

Cambridge City have seven games left. They play Saturday and Monday. Lose those, and they can get 83 points, or a PPG of 1.97. Win one and lose one, they can get to 86 and therefore could theoretically catch us on GD, or however it’d be sorted.

—-

Short answer, yes, it’s possible, but very unlikely. We’d need our main rivals to avoid winning in the four games mentioned above, and of course for Boro to beat Brighouse and Colwyn Bay.

If we continue to win games, I’d say the earliest it’s “possible” and not “improbable” is Colne, but Glossop at home is the most likely clincher IMO.

I don’t think I’m totally correct, as I’m assuming that the current teams in the automatic spots wouldn’t drop down. If some of the teams at the top of the league dropped down to 3rd, that would be a higher PPG, and I’ve not considered those in that quick calculation.

I’d say it’s a minuscule chance anything will be sorted by Tuesday.

Don’t forget Dunstable. They need to drop points too. Would need to draw with Cambridge City to make the other permutations work. If they win against Cambridge and R&D on Tuesday they would, theoretically, be on course for 87 points. We can only reach 86 on Tuesday. Frickley, too, would need to drop points today or on Monday.

No.

Even if we win on Tuesday, Hartley Wintney can’t drop any points until Thursday when they next play. So 86 can’t possibly be the points target by the end of Tuesday’s fixtures.

No, as in theory teams could still win all their games to get more than 83 points. The 89 point target might drop though based on Saturday’s results.

Saying that, guessing you are saying we win against Brighouse and Colwyn Bay to get to 86 points. Depending on results on Saturday and Tuesday then I guess that could be possible (if not quite mathematically - as might be still on goal difference type thing)

Because there are so many and I mean SO MANY permuations, I’m literally looking at tomorrow’s game, trying to win it, and letting all the games in the other divisions run their natural course before the permutations at that stage start to become a BIT more manageable!

You could ask the evening news as they worked it all out for their Thursday paper

Only joking… I think we would need Cambridge to drop 4 points from 2 games, Hartley to drop 3 points from 1 game, Frickley to drop 1 point from 2 games, Dunstable to drop 2 points from 2 games.

we could also get promoted without playing on Wednesday when Cambridge play or Thursday when Hartley play.

Walshaw by Joe90

Posted: 11/4/2018 at 12:21:11, 162 views.

Got to say how much I like watching Walshaw play.. he gives the team so much more than just goals… I spent the most of last night watching him, he takes a lot of kicks and punishment from the defenders and he plays that target man role so well looking to entice the foul when he hasn’t many other options. I can imagine in his early days he would have been a right handful at this level, his also taking some off the focus off Coulson allowing him a little more space. Special mention to Jamie Price never stopped talking throughout the game and giving instructions to the younger players, when he’s not in the team I think we lack that. I can see for next season if we go up us rebuilding again. Am not 100% confident in this squad competing week in week and the bench seems light and to many midfielders that lack quality.

Got to admit I was a bit disappointed in him for a while after he first came to us but for some time now I can see a much better player. He wins a lot of headers + they tend to go in the right areas. His hold up play is good although at times he does seem to get the ball stuck at his feet. He plays intelligently & links up well with our other forwards and he can’t be faulted for effort. My only down side comment is that I wish he’d get back on-side a bit quicker as he is taking himself out of the game (unless it’s part of a plan!).

It took him a few games to settle in and looked a bit isolated. But what a player he is , like others have mentioned wins so much in the air especially from throw ins He can turn on the proverbial
sixpence when in the box.Spends a lot of the game with his back to the goal shielding the ball and laying it off. What i like is his self belief ,he can miss a load of chances in a game and then stick one away when another chance comes.
He must go home after a game black and blue….Walshaw said he had been working hard to sort out his temperament as he had been sent off a few times last season. I hope he is here for the long term….fantastic player.

3rd place trophy: 10 more points guarantees promotion by Hungry Jose

Posted: 10/4/2018 at 22:22:14, 192 views.

Still 90pts needed to guarantee promotion, for now at least.

Max pts achievable (games remaining)

Evo Stik N
Bamber 84 (5) won
Prescot 83 (5) won

Evo Stik S
Frickley 86 (7) won
Bedworth 84 (5) -

Bostik N
PottersB 85.8* (5) -

Bostik S
Corinthians 85.8 (4) -
Greenwich 84 (3) lost
Cray 84 (3) -

SE
Camb C 89 (7) -
Hartley 88 (5) won
Dunstable87 (6) -
Hayes 83 (3) -

Bostik South and the team I was the most worried about failed again. Probably only Corinthian Casuals from the Bostik south that are now relevant. Hartley the biggest threat now? 5 good fixtures left for them.

Thursday sees Frickley and Potters Bar play.
Dunstable vs. Cambridge on Saturday.

Probably need to add R&D to the mix in the south east.
Currently top, second to Beaconsfield on ppg. 5 games left, max 91, but play Dunstable & Cambridge yet, and their form is P6 D4 L2. Good chance that if Hartley or whoever go on a run, and win all their remaining games, they may overtake a struggling R&D.

From a mathematical point of view we don’t need to worry about them yet, but if their downturn continues we could have some more wiggle room if Hartley or whoever storm it.

Great effort from the lads tonight. We battled all the way in what was a pretty hectic fast-paced game, and I thought we fully deserved the 3 points. Everyone put in a shift and they’ll be glad we’re not playing again on Thursday (as Radcliffe are!).

Coulo’s goal was absolute class. A wonderful chip/dink over their goalie. He has so much composure in front of goal.

Good turn out from Boro fans considering the distance on a Tuesday night.

Could have been worse, at least you didn’t lose 9-0!
