Benny did ok for us when he was with us but would anybody prefer him back with the team that we now have? Who would you drop? For me he would be a good bench and squad member. No disrespect meant.

I don’t get the obsession we had with him. He chipped in with some important goals but I thought he was average.

I hope he’s not bought accommodation in Cheltenham, put it that way. He’d fit into a squad in our league but I don’t think he’s good enough for anything higher.

I wish him well but in my opinion very overrated.

Lovely guy, brilliant name with a great song, YouTube videos for Record Store Day, how could you not be obsessed with him?!

Oh you mean footballing ability? Fair point. He was average for 3/4 if the season, but was in form during the run in and fitted our formation perfectly - we’d have been much closer to Ossett in the semi if it was him rather than a half-match-fit Billy battling against Tyrone Gay.

If walshaw does get injured who do we have? Kitterick has mentioned having to manage wally carefully. I would love to see Benny back in the fold, he is raw but showed enough to be a great addition. Not to mention the buzz and cult status he has to add to the mix and dressing room.

Agree, thought he got better and better as the season went on. He held the ball up, brought other people into the game and was a real goal threat. I could see him being a real foil for our other attacking players. I think someone (Malton?) came up with a stat on his goal scoring performance in each half of the season which seemed to evidence that progression.

He scored 6 of our 18 goals in our 8-game winning streak. by Malton Seadog User: Malton Seadog

1 against Mossley in a 2-0 away win.
2 at home to Burscough in a 5-0 win.
2 away at Bamber in a 3-0 win.
1 at home in the epic Tadcaster 1-0 win.

BUT, from 20th September to 7th January, he started 21 competitive games and scored three times.

Maybe my first post on him was harsh, but we’ve moved on. Would I have him sat on the bench as backup? Maybe, but I still think Curtis is probably a better option if I had them both in front of me.

Is this the same Curtis that “most of" our fanbase seemed to want to slag off at Hyde and other venues (before he scored in fairness)

I’m fairly agnostic on the whole (not always keen on going back for players and want us to work with the players we’ve actually got ) but those stats don’t tell the whole story. Pre the ‘run’ Benny was often isolated up top on his own and I don’t think anybody thought this suited him but he battled manfully on, when he got support he started scoring and scoring 33% of the team’s goals is a more than decent return for most strikers. Between Curtis and Benny? Not sure, they’re both different but I would imagine with Coulson and Wrighty out wide he’d be a big threat in the air but Curtis might be better on the break with his pace.

Some good positive thoughts regarding Curtis, I think he gives us another option from the bench. You can often tell a strong team by how good the bench is, and I think we’re pretty damn good in that respect at the moment
