HEAVY winds and very cold ones at that, but only light snow flurries, so the game should go ahead but could be badly affected by both the violent wind and by the lower crowd than would normally be expected at this time of the season.

will have to travel as the pitch should be ok
until about 12.30 and then an hour or so
for heavy snow (which is due to last all day)
to make a pitch imspection a possibility.

….that it’s a very long way to travel only for the game to be postponed at 2pm just as you pull in to the car park?

Glad that’s never happened to us.

Travelling to Colwyn Bay on the last Saturday needing a win to achieve our aims? Not that that’s ever happened before.

Here off Castle Road there’s already a covering
of snow.
Thought it wasn’t forecast for until after 12.
Don’t know what it’s like down Seamer Road

at the moment there is a few bits of pavement with a dusting of snow, but little to none on the roofs, and at the moment I wouldn’t advocate calling the game off, It should still be able to go ahead.

I can remember getting the supporters coach to Rochdale around Christmas 1993, when Steve Wicks was manager. The weather was poor. The coach stopped at least three times to ring the ground to see if the game was still on. Every time the reply was yes it is still on. We eventually pulled into the Rochdale car park to see a sign saying ‘Match Postponed’!

….I think I finished up diverting to Burnley that day.

There was another one at Rochdale under Wadsworth where the players were out on the pitch at five to three warming up.
I remember going down to the front and asking Ben Worral if it was playable. He laughed and told me that they had been told they were playing and went to pass a ball that stuck in the standing water. He turned to me again, shaking his head and asking how “on earth" anyone could be expected to play on it.

Ref decided to postpone the game about two minutes later.

Not everyone can be this silly but it is nice to see so many trying.
